Saitek Eclipse PC Keyboard

I've got one. Absolutely love it. Looks the busines the buttons feel is great, only problem with it is that I think the price isn't really justified. If you want to treat yourself, its a great keyboard.

have u a link to the review of this new version?

Great keyboard, feels very compfy when using it :), recnetly upgraded to the G15 though.

I was thinking of getting one of these until i read a review on another site, admitadly they mainly sell books, but someone stated that the keys themselves seems to be cheaply made and the paint was chipping off the keys so the light shone through were it wasnt suppose to. This was after about a month of use if i rember *** review correctly.

Could anyone confirm or rebbut this?

Thanks

I had the keyboard for a short time. didnt feel cheap and it would take some knocking about to knock paint off. Only problem was that the keyboard was unusable in the dark as the light drowns out all the letters and not to mention the anoying flickering effect it gives off while looking at the monitor. Would have been much better if the backlight lit up the letters instead ;).

An annoyance is if you install the drivers for the keyboard it sets up about 6 of them and some software gets really confused and doesnt work properly. Took ages to work out it was the keybaord drivers that stopped planetside launching. its drivers also tried to replace my razor mouse !

What's the difference between the eclipse and the Saitek PZ08AU?

They look the same apart from the colours are reversed. I prefer the silver exterior with black keys.

You on about the Eclipse keyboard?
I was very close to buying one as well as I've got some worn down caps on my current Logitech keyboard.

However I was told by somebody else on another forum that excellent though the Eclipse keyboard is, the Eclipse II was even better.
It is available in the US now - although only seems to be available from the Saitek website.
I e-mailed the Saitek UK website and asked about the Eclipse II keyboards and this is the reply I got:

Hi

We are expecting to take delivery of the Eclipse II keyboards around mid September. Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Sarah

So maybe worth waiting a little while as the new keyboard is supposed to be even more impressive and it should also prompt a drop in price on the original one.

How does the G15 compare to it?

I've had the keyboard for a few months now and the paint on the space bar is starting to come off. I just looked and it's increased a bit. It's not a big deal, but it is an annoyance, especially since i paid 75 pounds for it (extra cause I wanted the US version so had it sent from there)

Well if you wanted to buy a keyboard on looks alone then maybe that should have been mentioned.
Personally I go for how comfortable it is to type on etc hence the reason why I'm waiting on the Eclipse II which is just supposed to be better than the Eclipse.
If it isn't then back it goes - simple as.

Got the silver with blue and matched it with a blue razer cooperhead awsome the whole room glows blue now....

lol

i got the blue copperhead, the eclipse, and my akasa case has blue LED's for the power and HDD =p

I have my own nightlight now!

I like the lighting on my Eclipse and i find it does work, but the key response is horrible, i have a cheap logitech keyboard thats ten times better.
This is a keyboard to look at not one to type on.

There are actually 3 variations:
-PZ08AU Gamers keyboard. The first one, black keys with silver outer, backlight does not shine through the letters which makes it impossible to type in the dark with it.
-PZ30AU Eclipse. Black outer with silver keys, lazer cut letters so the light shines through and makes typing in the dark a lot easier. Been updated with a new red backlight version. I have this one with the blue backlight.
-Eclipse 2. Has 3 different coloured backlights, new look but same deisgn with lazer cut letters as the Eclipse. Only seems to be out in the us at the moment.

Aye its a great keyboard, got mine from OcUK last week (red one) hard to get used to after using a Microsoft keyboard for 5 years but one your used to it its great, nice soft keys and no excuse for spelling mistakes because you can't see the keyboard in the dark :P
