Military-grade Flight Sim Precision
Inspired by controls found within actual fighter planes, the next-gen X-55 Rhino H.O.T.A.S. System for PC provides utmost control over simulated aircraft. Built to the same exacting standards of Saitek's award-winning Pro Flight accessories range, the X-55 Rhino delivers a multitude of customizable options never before seen in an H.O.T.A.S. System. Whether flying a modern fighter, single- or multi-engine aircraft, or even a retro single-seat plane, the X-55 Rhino supplies all the control surface options required to achieve the exact level of aerial performance aspiring pilots demand.

Enhanced Stick Accuracy
During virtual flight – just like true flight – the accuracy of an aircraft's control surfaces is of paramount importance. The X-55 Rhino's control surfaces are incredibly accurate, courtesy of an all-new 16-bit aileron and a 16-bit elevator axis, each employing hall-effect sensors. Developed from the ground up, Saitek's 16-bit axis solution enables extremely precise flight.

Adjustable Stick Force via Advanced 4-Spring System
A ground-breaking, adjustable stick spring system allows pilots to alter the force required to move the stick. Four springs of varying resistance are included to provide a total of five different options. Choose the spring – or no spring at all – which best accommodates your style of flying.

Twin Throttles with Friction Adjuster and Throttle Lock
Using a twin-engine throttle controller is the only suitable method for manipulating a virtual twin-engine aircraft. The X-55 Rhino boasts twin throttles – ideal for situations in which your primary engine is disabled and you're down to one – and also provides the option to adjust the friction required to move them. And if your aircraft of choice is single-engine, a handy throttle lock effectively converts the twin throttles into a single unit.

Bonus Toggles and Rotaries on Backlit Throttle Base
Flight sim accessories used by today's virtual pilots require the highest level of control and customization. The X-55 Rhino showcases additional toggles and rotaries, not based on any particular aircraft, around the throttle base. Seven extra three-way toggle switches and two rotaries allow you to customize this H.O.T.A.S. System to your own specifications.

Individual USB Connectors
The X-55 Rhino's stick and throttle units each utilize their own separate USB connection, offering greater flexibility during customization. You're free to situate the controls exactly where you want them, without the need to keep them tethered to each other.

H.O.T.A.S. Configuration Software Enables Programmable Controls
Saitek's new software provides the ability to completely customize all of the X-55 Rhino's axes and buttons. On the axis side, you can adjust deadbands and response curves to fine-tune axes to respond just like an aircraft's real-life counterparts. On the buttons and toggle side, you can assign any number of in-sim directives, such as speed brake, flares, target lock and pickle weapon. The software also allows programmability for an array of mouse and keyboard commands – from basic single-key inputs to very advanced, timed, and macro commands.

Build the Ultimate Virtual Cockpit
Transform even a modest PC into a virtual cockpit and experience the staggering realism of different flight and emergency situations – complete with realistic weather and flight conditions. Using the X-55 Rhino as a foundation for Saitek's modular accessories, easily add Combat Rudder Pedals and a multitude of Switch, Navigation, and Instrument Panels to fully customize your flight simulator. Commercial or private, seasoned or novice, you have the ability to equip your flight simulation setup with all the essentials needed to vastly improve your skill set and muscle memory.

Product Includes:
- X-55 Rhino Stick Unit with USB Connector Cable
- X-55 Rhino Throttle Unit with USB Connector Cable and Green Backlighting
- Spring System with 4 Springs of Varied Resistance

Compatible with ALL Major Flying Games with the Saitek X-55 H.O.T.A.S. Configuration Software,

Only £169.99 inc VAT.

I notice I don't get the option for free delivery as a forum member. Is this the normal case for pre orders? It's not a huge problem I just want to know if I'm missing something.

I didn't spend this much on my X45 did I? I honestly can't remember... Seems to be a few more features on this X55 though:eek:

Would something like this be good for Elite Dangerous ?

I got mine a few days ago, works like a charm in Elite, read lots about it before i bought the x55 , any negative reviews were from users of the Warthog who were directly comparing the two setups, well i've never used a warthog , and all i can say is that this is NOT a typical 'Madcatz' product, the quality is superb, i have had no sticking issues, the joystick is slick and moves with equal resistance in all directions.

My only negative point would be that this is for people with big hands only, the throttle isnt a problem, however the joystick is HUGE , i have reasonably big hands and i can only just reach the top hats and buttons, i've gotten used to it but for people with smaller hands it could be a real issue as the wrist plate isnt adjustable in any way, i guess you could pad it out with something, i might get some black foam pad and cut it to shape and fasten it down with some doubble sided tape.

If i get a chance i'll do a full review.

+1 on a user review. Would love one of these for star citizen. But that price is just ouch.

So close to clicking buy now but a really want a new keyboard and can't afford both at the moment!

Great giveaway competition though. One person is gonna be really happy!

When will the draw take place?

Hey Azza666, SC is sooo far away you could get your keyboard now and the joystick closer to release... may even be cheaper then! ;)

I have ordered mine. I have games like Il2, Cliffs Of Dover that would great to use with this stick and throttle. Get some practice in for SC and ED when they are released.

Well , a bit of an update, it seems the x55 has a design flaw, the other day the rudder/twist/yaw started to click , no big deal i thought but this soon turned into a nasty squeaking that got worse with use and with that a certain amount of resistance with it.

Not being one to just return a product for what could be an easy fix i removed the 5 screws ( 2 at the base and 3 up the side) that hold the casing together on the stick , from a brief looking over of the twist mechanism its just a very bad design and will wear out very quickly as its also integrated into the screw type locking ring which secures the stick to the base, mine already has more slack than it should from only about a weeks worth of use. Lubing it with some graphite will no doubt cure the squeak and maybe the resistance in initial movement *however* whilst this may solve the symptoms its still a flawed design and i wouldn't be surprised if Saitek don't revise it in the near future as it seems to be a common issue.

My advice would be to wait and see what Saitek is going to do about it before parting with any money.

But just to make things clear, This isnt an issue of a faulty part, it works as it should , its just a very very poor design.

The thing is that the throttle is fantastic, its slick and feels very well made right down to the metal toggle switches, the mouse on the side is a nice touch but a little overkill imho, the joystick base is again superb and feels slick and well made, the stick itself is the achillies heal of the whole affair.

The rudder function is basically potentiometer that is mounted onto a cylinder of plastic and screwed to the inside of the stick, there is then a spring that clips over the next interlocking piece of plastic and is sandwiched between the two and creates the rudders piviot point. This is then slotted into another piece of plastic which houses a metal ball race bearing that screws onto another cylinder of plastic which houses the contacts and the locking mechanism.

The problem is that all these interlocking bits of plastic all have movement, and while the amount of movement between these bits of plastic is minimal it all adds up, there is also no lubricant on the parts that slide against each other.

The reason for this is for ease of assembly because of the sticks mounting mechanism, but really its just over complicated with too many plastic parts sliding and meshing together, i can see why they did it but in doing so its weak and its going to wear.

I bought a FLY5 off a high street retailer for £40 just to fill a gap until the X-55 became available again, after just two weeks of use the FLY has had a button sheer off so returned it this evening, its a real shame as I kind of got attached to my FLY it was packed full of features just a shame its made of cheese really :(

Given the above comment is the X-55 going to hold up better? I cant really pull the trigger on the X-55 for another 3 so weeks to be honest

I bought mine from OCUK and it's been fine! :p:D

TBH, I think the 55 will be OK. Everything else felt pretty solid and smooth, so perhaps they'll just beef up their QA, or something.
