Sam and Max Released

That's only the initial period though, in a week or so you can buy it direct from telltale's website & that's world wide. Has been getting very good reviews so far & the price in £ per episode is pretty reasonable. Thinking of getting this when the general release comes.

Sam and Max: Culture Shock is available for purchase by the rest of the world today at some point. Hopefully by the time I get home... :D

It got a pretty ropey review in PC gamer this month, about 61%, said it looked nice, but the rabbit was poorly acted.

bit of a shame, but i suppose rose tinted spectacles are in order when S&M are about.

I'm not convinced of the quality of Telltale games. Their bone series was dire IMO. As the poster above mentions, don't get drawn in by happy memories of the original. Everything has changed - the development team, the art style, the voice actors.

I don't think a sequel should have been made to Sam n Max at this time, by anyone. If Lucasarts had made it shortly after the original with same development team and voice actors it could have been good.

In comparison Tim Schafer's Psychonauts has razorship wit, nice depth of character and story and high quality cartoon action, and really does suck you in luck Lucasarts adventures of old. The platform gameplay works sometimes but is often frustrating - if Schafer's Double Fine company makes a point n click adventure game with fresh modern twists, it could be a classic.

I'm happy to be able to report that this game is really rather good. It's pretty easy, so if you're after tricky puzzles then it's one to avoid. Basically plays out like an interactive cartoon.

The graphic style works really well -- it's quite simple (hence the 72 Mb file size) but effective. I'd say it's worth the £5 or so that it costs. It has humour in spades (pretty much every line is a one-liner), with a *lot* of dialogue to explore.

Woo Hoo !
Downloading now - Amazingly I've never played the original or any of the old Lucasarts games - can't wait to see what I've been missing.
IGN & Eurogamer scored it highly - Edge gave it a 6 based mainly on the fact that it was too short (but for about £6 that doesn't seem to be a problem).
Will make up my own mind but I've got a lot of time for this style of game (ie Broken Sword, Dreamfall etc)

It's something like $40 for the 6-episode season (next one is out in January, then every month after that) so if you do it that way it's more like £3.50 per episode. Apparently there will be 3 or so hours of gameplay in every episode.

So yeah, can't complain about the price!

Heard so much about this game, time to find out what all the fuss is about.
