I bought a S23A700D back in February.

I love the glossy look and the colours are very nice for non ips panel.

But I have eventually hit on a problem and TBH I'm puzzled by it.

Basically my mouse movements are really weird. I wouldn't say erratic but the tend to fly off a bit, if you catch my drift. Imagine setting your dpi/cpi at 7000 when you're used to 600. Well that's only way I can describe it. It will only do it now and then, well, every 10 to 20 seconds.

At first I thought it was my mouse.
I had a RAT 3 and thought that was to blame.
so then I bought a Sensei and thought it was to blame.
I switched back to my old intellimouse 1.1.
I switched to my old mx518.

Still the same weirdness.
In games it is a lot more noticeable.
Before I had bought the monitor ( the S23A700D) I had some old 20" Sammy. In game I held my own. At CS:Go I would go as far as to say I was quite good (a rarity for me).
So for the past few months I've been rotten at everything. It felt as if my mouse was accelerating or just being a bit sporadic in game. Cross-hairs would over shoot etc. Angle reduction in fps games was the same, inaccurate and just felt off.

Then I thought yo myself the other night, that I was better on my old monitor. I attributed this to it's smaller screen and real estate and hence, logically, lower resolutions and hence higher frames, which may have been a factor.
But I then decided I would switch the monitor to 60hz just to see the difference in picture quality...

I was blown away by how, suddenly, my mouse was feeling smooth again on Windows Desktop. It was like rediscovering PC gaming when I fired up my favourite shooters.

I'm baffled.

120hz is supposed to help peripheral input, reduction in input lag etc.
I don't get it.
My monitor (the S23A700D) also ran very, very hot at 120hz. On 60hz it's warm'ish but no where near the levels at 120hz.

So, I'm running at 60hz for the sake of my games. but it doesn't look as crisp as 120hz it has to be said.

Oh, it's running off an nVidia 670 in case that is a contributing factor, but, I wouldn't like to think so as I don't bother with the 3D aspect.

Can anyone help shed some light on this mystery for me ?

Are you running vsync? If you are and can't maintain 120fps+ the sudden dips in fps will feel like a change in mouse sensitivity.

The 750d version of that monitor has a fan to keep the processing chips cool. Yours could be overheating and skipping a frame or two. I've read that when the fan stops spinning on the 750d it shuts the monitor off after 10minutes.
