Been sorting out my new build for last two days. All working well except a few Software probs or maybe hardware causing it.
Anyway---My Samsung 128GB 830 series SSD is already half full (59.5GB) Rather surprised on that one as I not finished yet. lol
Put Win7 on it and my programs, (still installing them) but does RUDDY microrubbish ever stop installing updates. nearly 256MB so far.Idiots.

It takes about 40seconds to get to desktop, any ideas why??
I looked in BIOS and have set the "Intel Rapid Start Technology to ENABLED" is that correct ?
Graphics size is 64MB, should I up it to 128MB ?? or more?
Thanks.

graphics is igpu memory,so that will reserve some of your memory not ssd space for the onboard graphics

you need to set sata ports to ahci mode,

you will get blue screen if its not set to ahci before win7 nstall so you need to click and run this, then reboot, set ahci and boot into windows without reinstalling

The Page File and space reserve for the hibernation file will be taking up a fair chunk of space.

You can adjust the Page File to a much smaller size as long as you have a decent amount of RAM and disable hibernation if you don't use it.

Open an elevated Command Prompt with administrator rights by typing Cmd in Start Search, and then hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter keyboard shortcut.

Or select Run as Administrator from the Cmd in search results.

Type the following command and hit Enter: powercfg /hibernate off

You may find this of use: Sean's Windows 7 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs

I spent so much time trying to organise and spread stuff between my old 60GB SSD as it had very little space for anything but the essentials.
One thing I found useful is, if you have a HDD as well, is to use symbolic links. These help you to move things in the App data folder such as iTunes backups (which can be huge!) and various other things which must be seen to be on the system drive. If you create folders on another HDD called "Program files" and "Program files x86" then you can easily install large program's HDD's

Thanks All--Appreciated..

wazza--(graphics is igpu memory) so I leave on 64mb or can I up it to 128mb ?
SATA ports were set to AHCI (first thing I did) then I installed Windows.

surveyor----To be honest, I have never understood page file in all my 10 years of PC's LOL When I messed with page file I made things worse so I leave alone until someone can tell me exactly how to do.
That cmd prompt stops pc hibernating then. Mind you, it has not hibernated yet, but u never know.. Will give that cmd prompt a try later on..
That Link looks Good..Thanks. Mind you, parts of it is way beyond me. lol

MonsterMoshi---I found XP to be far easier to migrate My Folder to another hard drive but I find it hard to do in Win7. (don't know why). That 2symbolic links" looks good. I shall investigate that later.
I have three HDD besides the SSD inside my PC Tower. My plug-n-play (hot swap) caddys would not fit into this Zalman Z9 because the mobo is too wide and certain parts stop them going in all the way. So I'm very fed up over that. I got 4 hot swaps and three Pluscoms I can't use. Anyway, my photos are on these drives beside music, folders for Word/Publisher etc. My Zyxel NAs works Great though I don't understand it all. My 4 port usb gigabit network server is refusing to work though and that is a BackUp for my Photos. I get "Error loading usb driver" but when it appears on my other PC Win7 it works. (both Win7 Ultimate).
Thanks for the Help, and if you got any more help it will be appreciated by me...

If you don't use hibernation then turn it off.

Even if the PC hasn't gone into hibernation mode then space is still allocated on the SSD for it (75% of the amount of RAM you have).

wazza--Thanks m8..

Surveyor--I shall stop that Hybernation in next 20 mins.
Thank You both. Appreciated.
