Cant relly decide which one to get. I've already got 1 samsung spinpoint 160GB which i'm really happy with, but could do with that extra storage. Any opinions on the maxtor; noise, reliability etc? And whats the NCQ mean in the description? Would u suggest having them in raid 0 or just as 2 seperate drives? Am i right they come with no cabling as well? Thanks peeps sorry bout all the questions!

1. I never buy Maxtor as reliability seems poor with them. Some staunchly defend them but the fact is they seem a bit flakey in terms of reliablity although their performance is good. NCQ = native command queuing - i.e. the disk reordering things to access data faster when 2 commands come in at the same time. Only applies in heavy HDU multitasking environments (like servers etc) but is a useful feature to have in any case. Either get the Sammy or Look into Seagate, Hitachi or Western Digital in that order (IMO).

Samsung HDDs rock! Don't like fanboys in general, but I've kind of turned into one over Samsung drives. They definately run cooler and quieter than any other drive I know. Their reliability seems pretty good too. Performance isn't bad either, particularly with the larger 200GB and 250GB models because of the high data density on the platters.

Seagates are awesome, I have had a few over the years and not one has so much as burped in all that time lol.

I have heard lots of good stuff about the sammies too so there ya go.

I am having to return my Maxtor cos it died a death only 6 months after I got it!

You get what you pay for...
That's like saying you would get a 550W psu rather than a 450W one at the same price - not necessarily a good idea, (not if it's a 550W qtec anyway!)
