:(

At 22:31 whilst playing a heated game of Call of Duty 4, miceormen's Samsung 103uj tragically died. Refund time me thinks. (Thankfully it was bought from a competitor whos shop is down the road)

So. Looking on the bright side. What shall I do with my refunded 90 quid?

I'm thinking 2xHD320hj's in raid.

Any thoughts?

i'd go for a WD hdd instead, too manu samsung hdd failures

As many guys on these forums keep on saying, the only reason why you hear about more Samsung drives dying is due to the fact they are selling more than the other manufactures, as they are faster and cheaper. Therefore the more products that are sold, the increased probability that there will be a failure.

Yeah i second the opposition to this. Or third :D

This 1 TB hdd was bought on the strength that all my previous drives have been samsung spinpoints, providing awesome reliability and exeptional performance despite silent operation. Had 2 seagates, kicked the bucket after 6 months. Never tried WD, but theres no need.

Raptor's are out. Can't be doing with a noisy pc after finally sound proofing my Antec 900. Tis down to either an OCZ SSD (30gb, SAMSUNG chips :p ) or 2xhd322hj's.

How easy is raid to setup?

And how big a speed boost will the ssd's provide over 2 single platter samsungs in raid 0?

cheers guys

BUMP

Got my 90 quid back today :) Just walked up to the desk, f1 in hand and looked very sad (wasnt difficult). They offered to swap it for another but i declined.

So how easy is onboard raid to set up?

I use samsung and seagates as they are quite.

I swear by Seagates though, I've had well over 20 over the years, and none have ever died on me or anything :)

I agree with you on 'cheaper price->more products sold->increased failure reports'. but why they are so cheap? because lower quality IMO. mine were running fine for a few days then started to 'click', RMA'd it and got a WD instead.

I really want some 1TB drives but not willing to go with samsung and WD are either too expensive (blacks) or too slow (green).

The seagate 7200.11 drive has come down a bit but its getting on a bit now? I cant remember what the performance was like, I would like a 3 platter drive though.
