Right i am after a new monitor i want it for gaming ( counter strike source) and also mainly just every day use and other games.
Is it worth spending £170 on this monitor, or can i get a just as good monitor cheaper, i am going from dual crts so i dont know much about them.

Please help, and advise me with other monitors that may be better and cheaper, i ll go to £200 for a monitor, but would rather keep to around £150 and i want a 19" or 20" widescreen.

Will.

I've got the 226bw which i assume would be very similar quality wise, just a different size.

Its a difficult one really because on any lcd you don't get that out and out smoothness of a CRT but i do genuinely believe these new overdriven (ie claimed 2ms grey to grey) screens are the next best thing if you have to change, with the added bonus of widescreen etc etc. You should definitely notice 'a reasonable' difference between a tn panel with overdrives (such as the 206bw) and a standard tn panel for a little less money.

My knowledge is a little hazy on counterstrike but does it have an uncapped frame rate? On a screen like the one your looking at you wouldn't really expect any ghosting at all and if your frame rate on the game is in the hundreds it should all but totally eliminate any tearing that could otherwise be present.

Sorry i do yap on... :p

I've had my SM206BW for a couple of months now and am extremely pleased with it. This is my first LCD monitor & I was a bit dubious about the image quality before I made the change but I shouldnt have worried. I dont think you would regret buying 1, especially as they have now come down in price, I paid £200!

I too myself have the 206BW as a 19" 4:3 just wasn't good enough for video editing, I too tend to dabble in a bit of CSS from time to time and this monitor runs it absolutely flawlessly. It's fantastic, it looks gorgeous. I have one problem but it's not a major deciding factor in whether to take the plunge and buy one or not and that's the fact it isn't height adjustable. But it makes up for that with it's bright and vibrant colours and sexy glossy finish.

To save me having to post a new thread, I'm going to ask this question here:
If money was no object would you recommend the Samsung SM206BW 20" or a Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20" monitor? The trouble is, I've got conflicting reports from various places that one is better than the other, and at first I was convinced that the Samsung has the superior panel, and a glossy screen which somehow enhances the colours or something, but now I'm just not sure.
