I came across this after I did a google search when I came across a 223BW monitor for sale for £170 inc.

"At the end of the June, Sunsung will first release a clone of the current 226BW, the 223BW, for less expensive but it won’t be as reactive. It will have a 5 ms panel, and theoretically no possibility of activating the overdrive to go to 2 ms. Its expected price is around 300 euros, compared to the recommended 370 of the 226BW. While we know that the latter is found for as low as 335 euros, this could mean some good things for those who might opt for this younger sibling. Samsung specifies that all production of the 223BW will be with Samsung panels."

The last bit is quite interesting and with the state of the panel lottery on the 226BW, even though it's a slower screen I am quite tempted. It looks like it's the 226 without the overdrive.

ANybody confirm all of the above?

Neither can I. I can find it for sale (though not on overclockers) and I can find people talking about it in forums and people who have actually bought it.

That's why I thought I would ask :)

i am waiting for 226cw to see if the early versions are samsung screens

Its a 21" screen, not sure why they opted to call it the 223BW, 216BW would have made more sense since I assume the first 2 digits indicate the monitor's size.

the 223 myst be the cheaper version of the 226 , ie chinese and AU panels.

All the articles I have come across state that after the debacle of the 226, all the screens will be samsung. The only difference appears to be the 5ms instead of 2ms.

I have now found (in chinese) a posting by sumsung stating they are bringing out a 5ms 226 version with a glossy black screen and tv tuner built in.

Should be interesting.

Actually you are half right. Just found a listing stating it is a 21.6" screen. who is going to notice the 0.4" missing????? And samsung would claim that 21.6" rounded up is 22" so ok to call it a 223 ;)

In which case "216BW" would be a perfect name for it :D

No it's not. Read more carefully. The articles states all 223BW will be samsung screens. No mention of the 226BW ;)

i am still suspicious about it

Ah not that's a completely different kettle of fish and I would agree with you. I wouldn't trust them not to lie. However, the screen is 21.6" and it might be a case only Samsung makes one that size so we will have to wait and see.

A-Si panel so what's the point in that when you can get superior
screens on 20" models makes no sense this unless it is indeed just the
226bw rebadged and all screens made by samsung.
so for £200 you get a 223bw -.4 of an inch smaller than the 226bw hmmm all sounds rather dodgy this.
seeing as you can get a 2ms 22" same viewing angles for £190.
I just can't figure out the target customer here if it levels out at £180 i can undertsand it's place but at the current prices of £200 probably £210-£220
most places.
Edit: in a lot of places it's only £5-£10 cheaper than the 226bw
scratching my head here.

I would agree. At £5 to £10 cheaper there is no point. However, at launch it was meant to be £30 - £40 cheaper than the 226. At that price point, it would be a viable alternative.

No a high st shop sells it for £220 walk out with.
the cheapest i have seen the 223bw is £219
