Well got my TV and its all working well. On DVDs the picture is great although I dont think the refresh rate is high enough for me personally. On NTL the picture quality is a bit iffy, for the money Im not convinced TBH my old CRT TV was better quality :(

Standard definition images have to be scaled to fill all the pixels therefore you get a poor image compared to a CRT. You need high definition sources to make the most of the screen.

True enough I guess, it also shows up how poor NTL picture quality really is especially on highly compressed channels where you get really bad pixelation which made me think initially the TV was a bit of a bad buy. After watching a few DVDs though it really is a great picture with amazingly vivid colours, so quite pleased with it now :o

Refresh rate?

I think its 12ms, unfortunately I couldnt really afford the M15B version for the 8ms rate. Oddly enough, it isnt fast moving images which causes it the most problems, was watching Crouching Tiger and see the quick fight scenes and there wasnt a problem. What does seem to cause it problems somethimes is panning across high detail landscape shots and it just isnt fast enough for a smooth pan.

That's not refresh rate, that's response rate.

I would have thought 12ms to be sufficient.

Are you feeding the TV with a progressively scanned image? Can you connect your PC to the Telly and play DVD via that to test?

Ive got an NTL STB and a DVD player connected to the TV. I could connect the PC to the TV but the TV is in the front room and the PC is in the loft and I cant be bothered to hoof the TV up there.

What DVD player have you got?

I meant plug the PC in as a one-off to check out DVD playback via PC.

Cant remember off the top of my head as Im at work, but its an old Samsung combi unit which only has scart and s-video connections, so no component or HDMI/DVI.

Im tempted to go out and buy an upscaling DVD player with HDMI connection as it seems you can pick one up for under £100.
