Samsung 2TB Discontinued ?

I see ocuk does not have these in stock and i have noticed on a few other sites that it has been discontinued :confused:

Anyone know why and if so, will they be bringing out a new 2TB version?

Most likely just a supply shortage. Of course, you can't entirely rule out something catastrophic after the Seagate saga.

I've purchased 4 from here and 2 from a local outlet of a webstore in the last few weeks.
I spent ages deciding to go for these, I hope they don't discontinue them already.

Whats that? I bought a Seagate 1.5TB drive and it died about 20 minutes after i plugged it in... not sure why i bought it as i have loads of Samsung sata drives and none of them have failed. One of my Samsung drives has been telling me that its about to fail due to a Smart error, for over 2 years now but works perfectly

I was just wondering, as i have a 4 drive nas and need one more Samsung 2tb drive, would be a bugger if they were suddenly discontinued!

well the 2tb ecogreen f3 is still listed on the sansung site, and theres some new f4 models there as well. I wonder how long before these pop up in stores?

Lots of products get short of supply sometimes, it's not discontinued.

The F4's are low-end drives as I recall, only smaller capacities.

There is a new Samsung 2TB coming, but there will be a period of a couple of weeks where there is no stock.

We do have Seagate, Hitachi and WD in stock though at very aggressive prices.

No worries ive found one

Out of the 15 or so Samsung Sata drives i have bought over the years, none have failed, so id prefer to stick to them

Provides better performance, low power and improved reliability apparently .... nothing wrong with the original one though :/

Nothing wrong with previous ones but this will have one less platter so it'll be faster, use less power, quieter, etc.

I'm waiting for 750GB platters and 3TB disks before I get rid of my 100+ F1's.

yeah it has 3 x 667gb platters instead of 4 x 500gb platters so its faster and uses less power. The price will be lower too due to 1 less platter. Might replace my 1.5tb WD with the new 2tb samsung, will barely cost me anything due to the lower cost of the new samsung
