Samsung 300GB SATA-II help?

hi im trying to setup a Samsung SpinPoint T HD300LJ 300GB SATA-II hdd on a system for some 1 but he didnt gave me the little bit of paper that samsung give you for the jumper settings

i just wanted to know what the jumper settings are for the sata2 mode.
from what i can tell its no jumpers for it but i want to be sure

mobo is a Gigabit K8 Triton GA-K8NS-939

Normally SATA2 mode is enabled by having no jumpers on the drive. Are the jumper settings not on the label on the top of the drive?

hi there is only 1 setting marked on the hdd for sata1 mode

the last time i had a samsung hdd it came witha bit of paper with different settings. yea i think its no jumpers as well for sata2 mode. coz if it wasnt there would be markings on the hdd to show what mode to use

think there is some think wrong with the board as when i reset the bios
and go into the bios to detect the hdd. is see's it but soon as i reboot the system it drops it. ive even tried sata1 mode and its doing the same

I don't want to sound patronising, but have you tried a different sata cable?

yes ive tried 2 sets of sata cables and its doing the same on both

What do you mean by "the system drops it"? The drive isn't shown on the BIOS splash screen when you reboot?

ive tried the hdd in another pc now and it works fine
but its still the same in that board. the person gave me to boards anyway so im just going to setup the other board

yea rpstewart as soon as the systems powered down and you reboot there not showing on boot or in the bios at all

but if i reset the bios and dectect they are there again

ive bin messing with it since yesday now and ive tried loads of things so im 100% sure its the board. the hdd works fine in in any other board. so that a big give away really
