Going to order an SSD tonight for my desktop PC and from reading this forum it seems the Samsung 830 series and the Crucial M4 series seem to be the best out there at the moment. I think i will go for the Samsung as its the newer drive and in theory should have more robust hardware/firmware.

The Samsung drives come in a Notebook Kit and Desktop kit, with there being a £50 difference in price, Desktop being more expensive ( i would have thought it would be the other way around?)

Does the Desktop kit perform faster in a desktop environment or could i purchase the Notebook drive and have equal performance? Not really interested in the software that comes bundled, ill prob never use it. If i do purchase the Notebook version, is there anything extra i would need to buy? my PC case is a Silverstone Raven RV03 and it has two free 2.5inch bays and im pretty sure i have a few SATA 3 6gb cables lying about.
