So I got a 128gb 840 Evo SSD, enabled AHCI etc, enabled the 10GB partition for the controller.

With the Samsung Magician benchmark I'm getting 285mb/s sequential read, 272mb/s sequential write.

Yet, I'm seeing some people with the same SSD get upto 1200 mb/s sequential read and 900mb/s sequential write on the Magician benchmark?

Why is mine so low? With RAPID mode on it still only musters 653 read/526 write.

I'm using the SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 ports, my Mobo only has 2 SATA 3 ports, one for the SSD and one for the 6gb/s HD.

If the cables don't make any difference then I've no idea what else it could be, I thought the cables made a difference as they're labelled. With RAPID mode on it's reaching the speeds it should be with it off. Random read is far below what it should be aswell at 52000 (92000 is advertised)

try diff cable if you want

those are sata2 speeds atm

I'll have a tinker, but I know it's in the SATA3 port, and if all the cables are the same then it shouldn't matter. Thoroughly ****ing me off though, my only other idea is to format it and try reinstalling and partitioning it again incase something went wrong.

As above thats the sorta max speeds Sata2 gets.

Be a good idea to post what mobo etc your using.

If it helps with my 250GB Evo and rapid off I was getting around 520mb/s read and writes and with it on around 1.1Gb/s.

Yea, thats kinda the speeds I should be getting, but I get half that without RAPID. Which would surely suggest it's on SATA2, but if the cables don't make a difference then I can't understand why it's at those speeds.

My mobo is a GA-Z68a-B3-D3, 2 SATA 3 slots which are white, and has my HD and SSD plugged into it.

Maybe it's just a ****** cable, I know all cables are the same regardless of whether they're called "SATA2 or SATA3" as I've just done a bit of googling, but if its a low build quality cable it might explain why.. worth a try I suppose.

load as ssd benchmark, don't run it just load it and look for green writing

if it says pciide and red writing then your not in ide mode no matter what Samsung magician says

try reflashing the bios as sometimes the setting don't apply/get saved

msahci - OK
1024 K - OK

idk why its not fast, tested it in other software? try atto benchmark just to see what it says

AS SSD Benchmarking came up with about the same numbers. This is with RAPID on of course.

FIXEDDD!!!!

I backed up my SSD and did a "Secure Erase" on Magician and now it's much faster.
