I currently have an Asus P6X58D Premium and have just installed a 256GB 840 Pro. I'm using the marvell 6Gb sata interface yet Samsung Magician is reporting only 400MB read and around 250MB write...with less than half the IOPs. What am I doing wrong?

that's right for that board,the marvell sata 3 speeds aren't as fast as newer intel sata 3 speed ports found on sandy/ivy/haswell boards
to see true rated speeds that the ssd quotes you need intel sata 3 speed ports

I must have got intel sata 3 ports on my Shuttle SH67H7 Sandy motherboard getting lot better speed from my 500gb 840 non pro then Robert Magician reports 534mb read an 334mb write good to know planning to buy a 500gb 840 pro soon.
