In the description here and on the product page for the 500gb version it says 120 gb... Too much copy and paste :)

Do I win the 500gb one for spotting that? :D

What improvements over my 830? Just curious, is it just the IOPS? Am I the only one who think's the drives would look better without the Orange Mobile sticker on them?

I don't get it the write speeds seem to have gone down from the 830s? Am I wrong?

eg. 256Gb 830 is 400mb/s vs 256Gb 840 basic is 250mb/s

basic 840 is not the straight upgrade to the 830. it uses a process that aims to be more cost effective (and to the end-user), at the price of write speed and a little write endurance. 830's basically branched into the 840 pro and 840, while 830 will be discontinued. they all look viable to me, reviews say they're all excellent

I got the 830 256mb a week ago fully knowing these 840's were to be released very soon. I still decided on the 830 because with the £20 cash back and the sale last week it only cost me £127.99.

I noticed absolutely no difference between the 830 and the 60gb agility 3 it replaced, except for having a lot more space and benchmarks showing better speeds.

I did not know the prices last week for the 840 but seeing it now I'm glad I took the 830, also considering only the pro comes with a 5 year warranty theres not much upside to buying the standard 840.

If I was buying today I would probably go for the 840 pro considering the performance and 5 year warranty, but if the 830 was still available for £127.99 I would buy it instead.
