Hi there,

I was wondering if anybody here can solve my dilemma. The monitors in question are:

32" Samsung Curved HDR QLED Gaming Monitor

vs

34" ASUS ROG Swift Curved PG348Q Gaming Monitor

This monitor will be used for casual gaming and audio production. I have an Nvidia GPU therefore I understand that by switching to the Samsung I'll be missing out on the G-Sync.

I've owned Samsung monitors all my life and I've been very happy with them. I've seen great reviews for the Asus however, especially when it comes to gaming. However I've also heard very good things about the new Samsung QLED monitors, and I've been told the picture quality surpasses than Asus's ROG series.

I don't care much about response times as I'm not a pro-gamer. Screen-tearing however could be an issue.

I will also be using this monitor to play my consoles (PS4/Switch).

Thanks in advance!

I've just bought the 27" Samsung HDR monitor. Nice and crisp ppi (I've scaled windows a bit) and it's the right size, I think 32" will be too big. If you're not gaming then I don't see the point of it, you don't need 144hz, LFC. Much better stand and how it adjusts in height than the 24" 1080p 144hz model. It's not the cheapest. Happy with it so far.

For casual gaming I'd just get another monitor though as you can probably get something good enough if you don't need the 144hz feature.

Have the 32, while I can compare to the other monitor you stated I will say the text/images a great on it. My previous monitor was the Asus PB278q 1440p PLS.
Like Hornet as said though, 144hz may be somewhat wasted that and the fact freesync but NV gpu.

I the 27" with a 1080 Ti and I cannot see any tearing or stutter in BF1, Destiny 2 or SWBF2, so its fine for gaming.
You might want to consider the C34F791. I had this for a month before the bezel broke and I returned it. I did not replace it as it has poor input lag(not great for the games above), but it might be perfect for you.
I miss the 21:9 screen size, especially for productivity. The screen itself is the same quality as the HG70 models and its a lot cheaper then the ASUS.

Now I know why the C34F791 has dropped in price. Samsung CJ791 curved QLED monitor with Thunderbolt 3 incoming at CES.
