Just got myself one of these evo drivers to go with my 250gb basic Samsung SSD. Wow, ran the benchmark test after enabling Rapid mode and was shocked to see the read/write speeds. :eek:

yeah but its just for show,it doesn't actually speed things up

think it uses a ram disk/cache not sure

Anandtech seem to think it's pretty good and definitely speeds it up a fair bit.

I've only seen it being a benefit for a fairly limited number of tasks or on systems with slower speed SATA interfaces. On my setup the cache utilisation is pretty low for most stuff i.e. 9 out of 10 games have identical startup/level load times with RAPID on or off.

Yeah it's pointless, can't tell the slightest difference on or off.

It is more a novelty for benching more than anything else.

I have tried it with and without and can't tell any difference.

I've heard the only real difference is that the EVO has a longer warranty
