is there a setup guide on the web i can view with regard to installing the 500gb samsung drive
ive just bought one and want to see how its installed / setup before it arrives
is it as simple as removing old hdd and plugging this one in ?
can anyone offer me some help please

I got the exact same drive and installed in into my recent build about 3 weeks ago.
Are you planning on using it as your main drive or a secondary drive in your rig?
If former, it's as simple as plugging it in and running the Xp/vista setup disc and then to format it before installation.
 
primary, the one im using now is very slow and makes a loud clicking sound so that getting binned
so i just inplug the old, plug in the new and setup vista install via bois ?

Yup, simple as that really.
Plug in drive
Put Vista disc in drive (make sure bios is set to read DVD drive 1st then HDD 2nd)
Run the installation.

You'll need to format the drive upon installation but it'll be prompted. Just setup partitions if you want.
