I bought a Samsung f1 1tb from overclockers end of last month. after installing i started a post about how noisy my drive was. after ignoring advice to rma, thinking i could live with it, it has now shut down on me i think.

With the drive connected i cannot boot up, and after booting from disk iv run the repair several times (with no errors) but to no avail so its not software failure, but after doing a HDD check it says pass about the samsung but when i switch to my wd hdd it boots and runs as normal (eliminating any other hardware failure)

Is there anything else i can do before i rma and if not what do i have to do to rma (if still post running xmas eve il be within 28 days, if not it will be after 28 days process)

just get in touch with ocuk and they should tell you what to do
if its a month old it should be a straight swap

Meh nice to hear all this lol cos i just rma a seagate 500gb drive and asked for a sammy f1 500gb drive as thought it might be more reliable. :(

FWIW mine was nice and quiet & fast too, so fast it jus died after 7 months :(

Like kmufc said theyre not bad just loads of folk have em due to the price having been good for a while i guess.

A point of note: I RMA'd my Samsung hard disk, direct to the manufacturer. They despatched the replacement hard disk on the same day they received my broken one. The entire turn around time was about 3 working days. As a comparison, Western Digital have taken upto a month to ship the replacement.

My advice - if you do RMA a Samsung drive, use the following link and bypass the retailer, as they will be a lot slower.
