Samsung F1 Raid edition?

RAID edition drives normally have firmware tweaks that make them play better with RAID controllers.

I don't know about the Samsung desktop drives but you can get problems with RAID controllers deciding that desktop drives are faulty when they aren't and dropping them from the array. This normally happens if a drive takes too long to respond, RAID firmware should have the tweaks necessary to avoid this happening.

I have been looking into this drive too and from what I've read it's rated to run 24/7 unlike the normal desktop drives (as previously stated).

I'm now in 2 minds which drive to buy as I already have 2 spinpoints, neither of which are the F1 raid editions, but have been used 24/7 for months without a problem.

Have also read that due to the "supposed" improved durability that the noise-levels are slightly higher than the 'non-24/7' spinpoint drives.

Looking at the price differences between standard & the 24/7 drives, and given the fact that I personally have had no issues with any of my spinpoint drives, I'm tempted to go down the standard spinpoint route and save a bundle of money
