Hi Guys,

recently I did some work and instead of being paid in moolar, they have said they will pay in the form of a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet. Now they said we have 2 options, 1 get the one thats out now, or wait a while for the new ones to come through (hard to get because of the Apple rubbish!?).

Now, Im not that clued up on these devices, however I have been browsing the PDADB website to try and figure out what versions of the device are out there.

The GSM compliant would be quite handy for when I am out and about and Sky finally release the Go application for Android, so I am tempted with that. Now I think that device is the 10.1V, however I am not sure.

So can anyone explain what models are available for the UK to me, as I havent a clue, and because of this import rubbish due to the patent wars I don't know if the one they are going to get me is going to be for the UK or some US Telcom branded pile of crap.

Cheers

The 10.1v is the old version of the 10.1 I believe. The current 10.1 looks a bit different (they revised it and made it look a bit more iPad-esque).

There are 3G versions available but I think they are a bit short in supply at the moment, though I'm not sure.

Here is the site for the new 10.1 - http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxytab/10.1/index.html

The new 10.1 is the one you'll most likely find in all the usual shops, etc. Whether you wait or not is up to you really.

The patent wars aren't affecting anything over here as far as I know.

Thanks guys....

I did a search and on what is potentially a competitor (they do nice rings that the chavs like to buy :D), and there is a 16GB 3G version for £500. I take it that isnt a Voda version???

Ive just had a 3g version from Vodafone and its definitly the 10.1, as simulatorman said the 10.1v is no longer avalable if it actually ever made it out to the shops in the first place.
