theres no catch or offer unfortunately

when i order online the seller takes vat off for me. i can get it from the site that sounds like expand for that price. (when its released)

Just install Sweeter Home on it, bobs your uncle. Its not got the glitz of the Hero UI but then again it wont slow down the phone. Someone will create a Hero UI ROM Im sure..

I paid €439 and €25 for DHL shipping (It actually costs €429 retail in Germany, my mistake for paying over the odds). When I actually receive the thing Ill let you know if they are genuine (from their ratings they seem it).

£390 odd isn't too bad I suppose. Are they unlocked and unbranded from Germany? Also - what's the craic with the warrenty? Is it transferable to the Uk?

Think I'm going to grab the Hero when it comes out on T-Mobile, then sell it to fund this. The camera & battery have really sold me on this as I use my Camera a lot on my N95.

Let us know when you get it, and I may just order from the bloke you did. Also - If you could give us a min-review that would be fantastic!

EDIT - Just found out it only has 192MB of RAM

Most of the sites still sugest it has only 128mb of Ram. With regards to other Android phones the Magic has 192mb and the Hero 288mb. However i've got no idea how much Ram Android needs to run smoothly.

with regards to the magic I've read(in the magic thread on this forum) it comes in 2 versions for the amount of ram, 192mb for the vodafone and more for the simfree/tmobile one thats due out in the near future(can't remember how exactly).

the galaxy has at least 192MB, I'm amazed that with the amount that have been sold already someone's not cleared it up officially, but the last official line regarding it was that there was 192 available for applications, the presumption being by most that there would then be additional RAM available for the OS

Yep unlocked and unbranded, Im hoping the warranty is transferable (Ill let you know). Coming on Monday now.. :cool:

Do you reckon you will be able to use a htc style rom (touch flo or whatever its called) on the galaxy?

Just like how I have touch flo on my omnia.

It will only be a matter of time. Although I *think* the I7500 has less RAM which could further cripple the performance.

Thjs I believe to be the case - The G1 has 192 megs of RAM, of which 98 megs of RAM available to linux. The rest is used for the radio and frame buffers. The Hero has 288Mb of RAM and 192Mb of RAM available to Linux. All we know about the i7500 is there is 192Mb of RAM available to Linux. ie the same.

Wouldn't porting android with Sense UI from a HTC device to a Samsung device (completely different hardware) make it tricky? Porting Sense UI to the G1 from Hero has been hard enough by the looks of things, also XDA developers wouldn't deal with a port to a non HTC phone such as the Galaxy. That's not to say someone else won't though.

I just called T-Mobile to upgrade to an N97, unlock it and sell it to fund the Samsung Galaxy

They told me the G2 (HTC Hero) is suposed to be released today or tommorow (27/07/09). I'm going to wait for that, at least I can check it out before sticking it on ebay.

@Christo - Please let us all know if you get your Galaxy without problems from that place in germany, and how long total it took to arrive - when did you order it exactly?

I'm debating wether to wait for it to be released on O2 next week (A few people who called O2 were told 4th August) and upgrade on my other line, or to buy it offline from germany. O2 don't lock their contract phones so that shouldnt be a problem.

Decisions decisions.....

@Christo: I just noticed you said you got it off ebay.de. I'm going to try that Handyzek.de place. I'll let you guys know what happens
