samsung lcd screen problem

my samsung 32le74 tv has developed a problem - there are areas of darkeness radiating down from the top of the panel that are very noticeable on panning shots across a darkish background. i finally managed to get a decent pic when upating my popcorn hour player firmware

any ideas what is causing it or how to fix it?
the tv was bought here a couple of years ago and is out of warranty as far as i know

I've got a Samsung LE32R87 and have also just developed this problem and stumbled across this thread ... Mine is also out of warranty.

Did you get anywhere with this yet ?

i too have a samsung around a year old which has within the past week i noticed dark patches..
