Tried google but just get loads of offers to buy the TV, nothing in the way of reviews except for CNET <-- is that a competitor?

I dont think CNET is a competitor. they do a lot of reviews. I find if google doesnt return much in the way of reviews, go to competitors websites and see if any customers have left feedback on it and use that as a mini review ;)

Ive got the 32" N series and its a great TV and has pretty damn good colours! As said its "Dynamic" contrast which means when its in certain display times you can see it alter the backlight to match the image so it kinda looks like a small flicker as it dims. I have this turned off tho and with some tweaking it looks good to me :)
Also when you set a display setting (brightness/contrast etc..) it keeps it for that connection only so i can have completely diff settings for all connections. Only thing that stays the same through all is the Energy saving (backlight control thing).

Also the xbox 360 via VGA looks fantastic and i have the Wii on componenet which looks as good as 480p will :p

The biggest downside to this tv as with most Samsungs is the built in speakers they are quite weak, lack any real power and quite quiet at times. I have mine through speakers tho and just gives me a lilttle bit more depth.

Using the backlight control as well (energy saving mode) you can get the backlight pretty low! Not off but low which makes a diff to your colours thats for sure.

Also imo its one of the best looking LCD's as well. If ya got any more questions just ask ill see what i can do :)

I would agree with that completly and just to add to the downside, the PIP seems to only work on some of the inputs, for example you can have baywatch on in the corner while on the pc input, but not while watching a dvd through scart.
It is however a cracking set and Im still blown away with the picture quality on it, even with only SD sources. And it is in my view one of the best looking cabinets.

Out of interest R5rich, have you used the wiselink function on your set at all? Mine appears to be faulty and wont recognise that anything is connected to it, or perhaps ive missed something, the manual is pretty vague.

£1038 for a 40" 730p isn't a bargain, you can buy a 42" 1080P set for £1000 (minus coupons and egg card) If you're going that size get a 1080p set. You'll be ready for full HD-DVD resolution, no downscaling. Other 40"-42" 730p sets are going for £900.

I have a 42" 1080P.

Has anyone got any review links for this HDTV? Incredable specs for an LCD but surely theres a catch?

Just to remind you,

Looks an absolute beast and well priced even for a 40 incher.

Theres my beef, now give me the gravy!

It got a mixed review in one of the what hifi mags i picked up in the supermarket a week or so ago. 3 out of 5. Can't remember the exact mag.

These are high spec tv's - Between the Samsung N73 and the SONY V series they are the best non 1080P LCD Tv's knocking around IMO, i don't want a 1080P set simply because the 360 will look nicer on this model simply because the 360 outputs at 1280X720 and is upscaled, at 1360X768 the upscaling is minimal.

And yes you can get 1080P sets for a similar price - but its a goodmans and apart from the resolution the screen is not as good as this and it doesn't look half as good ugly casing!!!

I really don't see much point in buying a 1080P set right at this time - most things like xbox 360/normal tv/sky hd/ all look better on a 720p 1080i set, only thing that might look nicer on a 1080P set is blu ray and HD DVD - if the HD DVD and BLU RAY submit at 1080P that is, buy one of these for now, in a few years time when 360 gets dated we all go back to pc, blu ray - hd dvd become more cheap and common - sky start broadcasting in 1080p get a 1080P set, which will be even cheaper then and better!!

Leakymeat yes ive used the Wiselink and its a very nice touch! I had the digi cam plugged into it and viewed all the pictures from racing day i went too, looks luuuuuurvely as well :cool:

Also the PiP is a tad annoying as well from what i understand cba to get manual :P

Scart = No PiP function
VGA = TV PiP (chs 1-5)
Component = No PiP
HDMI = From memory will do TV and Freeview!

Altho the PiP function is quite nice its not practicle whilst playing 360 as its distracting :p

Id say it proberly got 3/5 because as i said the speakers are quite weak altho the SRS thing adds a nicer sound its still lacking a little, but most people now adays seem to have some sort of speakers setup on there decent TV's even some little 2.1s would be ideal for this!

I got mine for £730 and for that price i couldnt get anything better really and i hesitated for quite some time but im glad i got this now :)

Cheers R5Rich, if its not too much hassle, could you possibly try plugging in a usb dongle with some photos on it to see if it will read that. I was under the impression it should be able to do this but mine gives me the "check signal cable" error message.
I dont actually have any cameras etc to try in it.

Thanks.
