samsung lu28h750uquxen G-Sync/Freesync issues

I got my exchanged monitor today! It's certainly an improvement, though I think I'm possibly-maybe getting some subtle flickering. GTA V in borderless windowed flickers like crazy with the refresh rate all over the place just like the last monitor, but on full screen it seems to work. The other games I've tried (which isn't many) seem okay on borderless or full screen, though I could almost swear there's some extremely subtle flickering. I'd say this could just be my imagination, except there have been certain moments where flickering becomes evident. I tried it in Deus Ex GMDX and there was flickering around the 70 fps range, though as it's an ancient game engine not sure how much I should read into that.

There's certainly a transition flicker when crossing over the 48 fps line (low frame rate compensation kicks in below 48 hz on this monitor), yet LFC does work okay. Otherwise, running around at 50-59 fps is admittedly smoother than the equivalent 50 fps when vsynced on a 60 hz screen. The GSync pendulum demo works fine (except for the 48 hz transitions), which is still a huge improvement over the monitor I returned which flickered non-stop.

It's early days for me and I think I have 'flicker paranoia / hyper vigilance' which is making me cautious about feeling too relieved right now :p I also haven't tried any tricks like switching modes or turning the monitor on/off, etc.

BTW, there's a U28750, which I believe is the same monitor as yours on 'the' spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...SRGswWpJzVRuK_4zMvphRbh19k/edit#gid=706438575

Someone has listed the ultimate engine Freesync range there as 40-60 hz.

Hey man, glad to hear a better experience with the replacement!! I know what you mean about paranoia, I've just been waiting for a resurgence of the major issues I had with the first one :D

Thanks for the heads up on the spreadsheet, I think it probably is the same monitor. I ended up getting a response from Samsung about the range:

Upon checking, the Freesync range on Standard engine is 54-64Hz while for the Ultimate engine, the range may vary depending on your AMD graphic card settings.

Useless really, and I thought BS as why would the range be higher than the rated 60hz ?!? I ended up downloading ToastyX's CRU and that listed the Standard engine as 50-60 and ultimate as 40-60, which is kinda what I expected from experience. And would tally with 'the' sheet :)

Being someone who's never happy, I'm now thinking maybe I could OC the monitor to increase the FS range, maybe to 65, 70 if I'm lucky. Haven't got the balls to do it though yet :D:D

Glad it's not just me experiencing the paranoia :D I've tried a few more games and seen some weird things. XCOM 2 flickers on full screen, I then switched to borderless windowed and the flicker went away, but then so did GSync - the monitor was just sat at 100 hz instead of matching the frame rate. Also just running Hearthstone (FFS) on a window taking up half my desktop while watching a stream on the other made my monitor flicker lol.

I've just had a good session on Forza 4 though and Freesync was working fantastically with it, so that's chilled me out somewhat. The game was running 70-95 fps, which is probably the happiest zone for this monitor. XCOM 2 was more like 48-55 fps, which is dangerously low on my freesync range. Either way, confirming one game is capable of running properly freesynced is a relief - makes me feel far more comfortable that the monitor's hardware is good and issues with other games may just be software related :D

Yes something doesn't sound quite right about that Freesync range lol. Good luck to you if you overclock. I tried it on my 60 hz non-VRR and got it to 67 hz before it started to fail. Seeing the screen blank out like that and lose signal gave me the wiggins, so I put it back to stock and vowed not to try it again :p That was a Dell though and Samsungs may have better luck :)
