I have just ordered a pro 128gb ssd, and was just wondering is it worth installing the software? Im guessing I will have to install it for the firmware update anyhow?

Installing Magician takes all of about, 1 minute. If you don't like it, it can be uninstalled.

I always install it with a Samsung SSD, seems to not cause any problems and makes it easy to optimise the system settings, keep an eye on the SSD's health and to update the firmware (I`ve noticed that Samsung don't seem to put out as many updates as Crucial anyway).

I think I will install it if I need to do a firmware update. Is their anyway of telling if the firmware is up to date without magician installed?

Are you worried about installing the Magician software ?

I have read reports of a few problems with it, but I`ve never experienced any issues having carried out about 20 installs.

I thought it was quite bloated, but its not bad at all, as Ive just installed it. Most of the options are grayed out atm as the sammy isnt installed yet.

Never really looked to see how much space it takes up, but I wouldn't have thought it was much, judging by what it does and how long it takes to install (OK, most things install quickly on an SSD, but it really is a quick process).

Just checked, about 41MB on this PC..... nothing to worry about.

If you enable over provisioning within Magician, you'll lose about 10% of your capacity. Over provisioning is supposed to help extend the life of the SSD and maybe maintain performance. I`ve read that it's not really worth enabling for the average home user, but I usually do it anyway. If you need the space back, it's easy to disable.

Having said that, for the second time, I'm currently having trouble enabling OP on this SSD that I'm installing in a Toshiba laptop. Having cloned the HDD to the SSD, and done a bit of partition size adjustment, Magician won't let me setup OP.
