I installed Samsung Magician which reserved some of the ssd space for over-provisioning. When I uninstalled Samsung Magician the space is still reserved.

Is Samsung Magician required for over-provisioning or can I leave it uninstalled?

The only reason to have it installed is to update the firmware. All over provisioning does is shrink the partition to leave "free space" for the controller to work with to keep write performance up. I believe you don't need to do it if you don't fill the SSD up.

Actually, it did it automatically when I installed the Magician software. I wasn't aware it had happened.

Do you suggest I reinstall it and reclaim the space? Thanks in advance.

Yeah you can do if you need the space. I have mine over provision but mines the512GB version so I'm not worried about losing the 10% of space.

My Samsung ssd has decided to do that also...(same software) But twice recently it has also done this..

This ssd will be in Read-Only Mode. No operation can be performed on this ssd..

Any ideas as to why it should do this. Only half way full (128GB ssd) Only used for OS & programs. Oh yea! Stupid Micro Updates keeps filling it up. By time Micro has finished I'll need an ssd 1TB. lol
