Somewhere, in a field in cheshire... alright!
Hello

Turned on PC this morning only to see a blank black screen, windows booted up as normal as I heard the usual sounds etc. On closer inspection I could very faintly see the desktop and the menu options of the monitor. I've now tried the monitor on a relatives PC and the same thing happens. Is the monitor broken?

Thankyou

Iggy

I know it sounds stupid and rather obvious, but have you checked to make sure no one has fiddled with brightness/contrast/etc?

I only ask because we get that all the time from users here at work. It's worth the 3 second check before you spend money or start RMAing stuff. :P

Well its only me thats uses it at home so I know that brightness etc havnt been changed. The settings arnt visble on screen when i press the menu button so I guess it is the backlight thats gone like streeteh said. Thanks for the advice though.

To be honest, the cost to repair would probably be almost as much as replacing the monitor. I take it your warranty is expired?
