Hey guys,

I have been given one of these notebooks from my brother in law to repair as the guy he gave it to couldn't fix it. I've tried turning it on & letting it try & boot into windows, This becomes an endless loop of restarting even before you see the Windows XP Splash screen.

So I thought I'd try the recovery option through F4. It appears to me that the recovery drive has also been formatted when this guy was "fixing" the notebook.

There isn't any CD's that came with the notebook so I'm a bit lost on what to do.

Does anyone know where I can get a Legal Samsung OEM Win XP disc from so I can put it onto a USB Stick & use the key on the bottom of the Notebook?

snap i wiped the data partition too free up space for music and then turns out the partition recovery software is not on the recovery cds , my cd got scratched and i cannot read the xp cd key as it has faded off my NC10 , If you download a xp home cd image from a torrent site and use your own key it should be fine

p.s you should get a usb too sata bridge saves roboopying the data onto a pen drive a got one for a few pounds from hong kong :)

Thanks for the reply, I've found a guide to do the Windows XP to Usb Stick thing but it says this.

Once the device has been formatted, you must make it bootable. To do so, you must copy the BOOT.INI, NTLDR, and NTDETECT from the root directory of your PC's boot drive to the flash drive.

I have none of these that are Windows XP, Would taking the ones from my Windows 7 Install work ok?
