Samsung N210

I'm very interested in either the 210 or the 220. From all the reviews I've been reading and comparing the models on Samsungs site the 220 simply has a sub-woofer and a awful colour scheme over the 210s!?
However I did manage to dig up a review (stuff.tv) that stated that the 220 has a Broadcom chip option..? Meaning accelerated video playback.. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? I see no mention of it on Samsungs site nor if the 210 has a similar variation..
Quite frankly I'd rather go with the 210 presently as I'd be able to get a nice all black one. However knowing that the 220 has this broadcom chip is making me have second thoughts!

Thought I might as well follow up my own post!
Bought the N220, glad I did too. There is indeed a broadcom chip and it's a lovely little machine.
Now I just have to rid it of all the rubbish that's installed on it!

Okay I just ordered mine from everyones favourite rainforest dealership, £290 with a free antivirus/office/case bundle thing worth £90 (apparently), and delivery by 1pm tomorrow. I was gunna wait and get an N230 but I'm not so sure about the brushed metal finish, and I desperately need a netbook!

I'd still like to know if anyone had problems with drivers when reinstalling Windows? Also did you use 32 bit copies?

Thanks guys :)

Hey guys,

Been watching this thread for a bit, been looking to pick up a netbook for a while just to do some typing abroad.

Will Obviously replace the Ram module with a 2gb one and wipe and install 7 Pro/Home Premium

Should i be going with the N220 or waiting for the N230 i think it's called is there anything of note in the later one as i can't seem to see much difference except a higher price.

Oh and does anyone have an SSD in their netbook does it help a lot with battery life?

As far as I can gather, the N220 has the coloured back, and N230 a brushed aluminum case. I was gunna get the latter, bit I couldn't hold on any longer, so I got an N210.

I've been really impressed so far. I'd say upgrading the RAM to 2gb and a proper version of Windows is essential, and makes it a whole lot faster and nicer to use. The Samsung bloatware is pretty rubbish.

The keyboard and battery are also really really impressive :) I probably average 7-8 hours away from a socket of solid use (ie internet, emails, Word etc)

Thanks for the reply, will be purchasing this week the netbook saw one on ****** though the Samsung N150 Netbook it has 3G built in. Is the N150 an old model? i assume it is seeing as its a lower number?

Its just for an extra £30 it says it includes: WWAN Integrated 3G HSPA Modem

Definitely considering it unless i have missed some other major change that makes it worse than the N210/N220

tbh there is very little difference spec wise in any samsung netbook, they have so many different models now its totally confusing :)

I had a NC10 when they came out and then a N210 and apart from the keyboard there wasnt much difference, the n450 cpu isnt that much better than a n270, maybe it has a bit better battery life but its no more powerfull for normal use, if I was to buy another netbook, a samsung especially id just buy the cheapest one available

Oh oh oh, if its not too late, the UK version also has a Broadcom HD decoder inbuilt, so you can play 1080p videos.

My second faulty N210 is going back :( so I might try my luck with an N220.

Looking at getting one of these but being a bit put off by talk of all the rubbish samsung pre-install.

I don't want to pay for an upgrade to Win7 home/pro/ultimate but is it possible to just format and re-install the Win7 starter that comes with it or will that just re-install all the rubbish too?

I don't think it would be possible, I'm pretty sure that it would reinstall all the bloatware too. Win 7 Starter is a pretty horrible OS in my opinion, if you could spare the extra cash for the upgrade to a proper version of Win 7 I'd definitely recommend it.

Also, to give an update on my netbook situation - I got an N220 after I sent back my N210. The N220 is a much nicer netbook, the coloured back is really subtle, but a really nice touch. The 2.1 speakers are much better than the ones on the N210, and the chrome finish around the screen makes it look that much better :) haven't tried the HD video yet but apparently Flash 10.1 enables Youtube HD etc via the Broadcom HD chip.
