Samsung N210

Well yes, but the point is that you barely ever need to charge the thing because it's so bloomin great. The chances of a battery failure creeping up on you all of a sudden are incredibly small.

I also tried half life. Can't set correct resolution and it's just too old for me now.

just ran it at 800x600 didnt look to great but ran reasonably smooth, yeah its a bit old but its still pretty good imo

Internal pic, shame the second pci-e slot is missing i may get the balls one day to fit the socket ;) then fit a broadcom hd decoder :)

Hey Brad, thanks for the photos. On the N210 is there a sim card slot within the battery compartment for the 3G modem? I saw an unboxing vid of the N220 with the slot but I'm not sure if it's the same for the N210. I'm a bit confused since on the official Samsung website it says both models have 3G modem yet their specs do not =/

yeah there is a slot but its just a dummy :(

Bradmax, are you getting 12 hours out of your battery? Does your power icon ever say that 12 hours remain and have you ever had 12 hours of actual use?

I'm getting nothing like that! Maybe 6 but with actual use about 4 :(

max ive had is about 9 hours id say under normal use, but that might be including times when i nipped out of office for 5mins and it went into standby, longest ive seen on indicator is 9hours 40 min

Somewhat off 12, my guess is thats on min brightness, wifi off etc

to be fair mine is on full bright and wifi all the time and with speedstep disabled. So I guess that's the reason.

I'm planning to buy a netbook in the next week or two and I really like the look of this one.
Are there any better netbooks for £300 max or is this the best one?

Thanks in advance,

N220 has different keyboard layout and horrible colours

N450 is marginally faster and the graphics are now on the CPU. Power lower is main advantage.

You saying the N210 is still using the Atom N270? Cause all the spec sheets I've seen for it online say that both it and the N220 use the new Pinetrail Atoms (N450).

I've been wondering myself actually - what IS the difference between the N210 and N220? THey seem to be identical in everything except price! I've looked at specs and read reviews, but can't spot a difference!

EDIT: Nevermind, seems someone's finally figured out the difference: http://www.liliputing.com/2010/01/closer-look-at-the-samsung-n210-and-n220.html
Guess most e-tailers figure having a larger Enter key is worth about £30. It seems ridiculous, but I suspect that after a few hundred hours working on the thing I'd agree with them...

eh? I had already figured it out. I am fully aware they are both N450 and I said they have diff keyboards and fancy colours :)

I had been looking at the N10 (and the Asus 1001HA). Is there any significant difference with the N210 Samsung or is the old model OK for ordinary use?

Other than battery life not really, although the n210 is capable of some HD video cant remember on the nc10 (if thats what you mean?) also cant comment on the asus one, the n210 has a very nice keyboard, however ive just sold mine for the same as i paid for it as 1024x600 was a tad annoying, so i just got a mini 311c

fair play matey. Have you bought one of these yourself?

I was between an N210 and an Asus 1005PE (had a thread about it), but then i noticed the Acer Ferraris going cheap on the 'bay and jumped on that bandwagon instead. (First bandwagon I've seen with spoilers and a big horsey badge, but hey)

Let us know how you get on with that, ive seen them and half fancied one myself although i think the styling is hideous unless you have a red ferrari :)

Bradmax - Is the silver trim at the front of your netbook looking scratched already? ON mine the paint seems to be wearing off and I am so OCD about being careful with it it's virtually inexplicable.

I flogged it a few weeks ago, ended up with a Mini 311c instead, got fed up of the low res
