I'll start off by saying that I'm no TV expert. I'm just a regular user that likes a decent quality TV and sound system (which is what I've got)
My previous TV was a 4k Philips 55" and whilst it was ok, it was slow to change channels, the inbuilt freeview went blank every few minutes and generally I wasn't happy with it. After doing a bit of research I narrowed my choice of TVs down to either Hisense 65U7A or Samsung NU8000. By all accounts both are very good quality but as I already have a Samsung 40KU6400 as a PC monitor I decided to go with the Samsung.
Out of the box the Samsung picture quality was fantastic whereas my previous Philips needed hours to fine tuning to get it vaguely right. I did however play with the Samsung settings and followed the instructions at
Rtings and now the quality is even better. Standard definition is a little bit blurry as you'd expect on a 65" screen but HD content is very sharp, colours reproduction is excellent in my eyes and generally I can't really fault it. There are two tiny visual negatives, one is that you can see the edge lighting a tiny bit when you have a totally black screen however 99.9% of the time it's unnoticable. The other is that I occasionally notice the smallest amount of judder on some HD channels, most of the time it's perfectly smooth but every now and again I'll spot it. I'm sure that messing with the advanced settings could eliminate it but it's so rare that I haven't bothered yet. One other tiny annoyance is that I can't seem to get rid of the TV Plus thing, I delete it and it comes back next time I switch on so the only way to hide it seems to be to move it to the right hand side of the menu and never bother with it.
Non-screen related but it's nice that the ARC stuff switches on my amp really quickly, it used to take a good 10 seconds on my old Philips so I was always waiting to turn the volume up or switch channels after I had turned the power on. So such wait on the Samsung.
Overall I'm extremely happy with it and seeing as I paid <£1000 I think it's a bargain.
