I threw a low bid on an auction (not eBay) for a SAMSUNG C49HG90DMU and won, but it's apparently literally just the unit.

I'm waiting to see when it arrives, but can anyone advise on a stand/arm for it? There seem to be many problems with arms losing their tilt due to the weight?

Can you simply buy the regular monitor stand?

Do I need to buy a VESA adaptor?

Thanks!

Off the top of my head my g7 odyssey came with a stock adapter to use with a third party vesa mount so a good chance the g9 might do too. Google the manual or an unboxing to find out.
If its missing the stand anyway there is a good chance it was used with a vesa and still has the adapter attached.

Nope, it's unit only, it's not a boxed item. This is the image they show -

Tbh, I think I made a mistake. I knew they added 25% 'Premium' and then VAT, but with delivery too the final price almost doubled. It's maybe only £200 than I could have got second hand on eBay and I also have the hassle of no stand or adapter. I guess, if I bought on eBay, I would still want an arm mount, so I suppose I might only be paying for the adapter over what I would from eBay.

I'm looking at one of these, then I think I just need the adapter.

I have that exact mount for my G9 and it works flawlessly, back when I ordered I also had to get the heavy duty pivot but that looks to be included as standard now.

You will also need to get a VESA adapter that fits into the circle cut out on the back of the monitor to make it VESA compatible... I'm not certain they're sold separately

Personally, I would not buy an arm that can be adjusted. Especially with such a heavy monitor. Better to get one that is fixed, ie locked in position. The reason I say this is that with a heavy monitor like that, it's going to bounce around all over the place as your desk moves. Even typing is going to get it creaking.
Either that or a wall mount.

Yeah, I can find 3D printed ones, which I'm not overly keen on. I have seen metal ones too, not sure I've seen them for sale. I have mailed the arm company to see if they sell them.

I get what you're syaing, the one listed is specifically for weights as this and as said above, apparently works fine. I do have visions of it breaking the desktop though

**EDIT** If anyone knows where I can buy the regular mount, maybe I should start there and see.

Also, I assume I will need power. Can anyone give me the part # for their's?

**EDIT2** Almost more for my own records, the arm company linked me to this original part, which is generally cheaper than 3D printed buy a long way.

I have a very sturdy solid wood butchers block desk so my experience may be different to others, but unless I give the desk a significant whack the arm doesn't move. Obviously that is a very expensive arm, so again if you have a cheaper one you might experience some wobble.

Yes it’s a kettle lead.

We recently moved house, the guy left his old computer desk for us, which I quite liked so I kept it, and gave my old, much sturdier, desk to my son.

On this new desk, the monitor edges wobble even when I type.

I got this arm (with the optional pivot head) to fix this issue (as I read it fixes it), it didn’t.

So the comment that it’ll wobble someone made earlier is not because the arm isn’t sturdy (it really is), it’s because the monitor is so big and your desk has to be *really* sturdy.

It’s a very subtle wobble, but once you notice it, you notice it…

I’ve fixed my issue by luck: my speakers fit exactly under the monitor corners so they stop it from wobbling.

PS: I couldn’t find my VESA mount adaptor in all the boxes so bought one from the link you were given also, arrived quickly and worked fine.

Guess what I found the very next day while looking for something else…

Some great info, thanks. I do wonder, as it's a standing desk I've ordered, maybe it wont be sturdy enough. It's not a cheap desk though. I did wonder about one off eBay or something, but I went Herman Miller in the end. We'll see. I'm not really buying it to be able to move the monitor around, more because I don't have ANY stand and I like the desk space arms give. If I have to prop it up in some way, maybe I can do that.

Good to know. So... you have a spare VESA adaptor knocking about still? :D

I hope it works out for you… this desk it’s currently on is one of those that only has two legs which support it from the back so there’s no support at the front, hence it causes wobble.

I don’t really move it about with this arm either. The main benefit I have from it now is that there’s tons more desk space under the monitor, which is quite handy.

So... it turns out it came with a stand... but only just! I noticed the shipping email said two items. Expecting just the screen, I thought this was a little odd. The delivery guy arrived, with just the screen. I asked if there is just the one item as the email said two, he checked, off he went and came back with the stand!

I'll stick with that for now, but maybe have the arm on a wishlist for later perhaps.

If your going to mount this at a later date you will need this bracket to attach to the monitor https://imgur.com/gallery/DNqUZwa .which will allow you to attach an arm to it.
Yes...

Already done that discussion

I've installed DisplayFusion which has some nice options for setting up virtual screens and changing between them with shortcuts.
