Viewing angles arent needed for this usage.

Viewing angles are needed when you have the TV in the middle of a room and seats at the sides of a room so you are sitting side on.

He's going to be sitting straight on to the screens not to the side.

If he's going to buy LCD then yeah the value for money option is the Q80T.

However oled is far superior in every way. Albeit a lot more expensive.

It's a question of how much he wants to spend essentially. That's the real question.

The difference between oled and LCD is stark if you know what to look for. Problem is during gaming normally you aren't looking for them so it isn't as noticeable however he's doing a specific type of gaming which would probably easily show oled's benefits

Sorry didn't realise. I'm using a phone so I can't see the whole thread easily.

Essentially it comes down to how much you want to spend and how much you value picture quality and how educated you are in what to look for.

If words like blooming, DSE, soap opera effect, ghosting, banding, etc are alien and you need to look them up then chances are you will be fine with the Q80T however if you know what they are and know how to find them and what to look for then only an oled will satisfy you.

Take any random person off the street who has no clue and yeah they will state a £400 hisense is amazing.

That's because they don't know what a good TV is. They cannot see any flaws because they don't know what to look for.

That's actually a good thing because if you are ignorant you can actually be extremely happy with a cheap TV. You will think it's amazing and so long as you nobody bursts your bubble you will be extremely happy using cheap TV's.

So how well versed are you in what makes a good TV and how much are you willing to pay? That's the real question. Because those factors are personal to you only you can really decide which is best for you. There is no wrong choice IMO unless you have several TV's at the same price but differ in quality and you pick an inferior one. That's a bad choice.

However your choice is price Vs quality mainly.
 
OLED's are undoubtedly better in terms of picture quality but my concern in recommending them when you're buying extremely expensive 70"+ TV's is burn in, I'd assume flight sims have a lot of static instrument panels and HUD's.

You can buy warranty now from John Lewis to protect against burn in. Would be stupid not to as lasts 5 years and over that time is pennies for the peace of mind.

By that time the panels will have been broken in to the point it gets harder to get burn in unless you do something stupid like leave it on for a week with the same image on.
 

interesting real-world test. The clouds in the game are pinkish on the Samsung whereas they are bright white on the LG. Very important for flying.
 
You won't beat colours of an oled.

Get an oled calibrated professionally and it's end game for a TV.

The only negative is the cost of oled. It's a lot more expensive back in the day the opposite was true. Plasma was superior and actually cheaper than top end LCDs.

However plasma couldn't scale to 4k
