According to rtings, the XH95 is only marginally better then the Q80T (but with slightly worse viewing angle and no freesync/gsync): https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-x950h-vs-samsung-q80t/1777/1819
Q80T vs Q90T is again very similar https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/com...sung-q80t/9810/1819?usage=11114&threshold=0.1
Viewing angles arent needed for this usage.
Viewing angles are needed when you have the TV in the middle of a room and seats at the sides of a room so you are sitting side on.
He's going to be sitting straight on to the screens not to the side.
If he's going to buy LCD then yeah the value for money option is the Q80T.
However oled is far superior in every way. Albeit a lot more expensive.
It's a question of how much he wants to spend essentially. That's the real question.
The difference between oled and LCD is stark if you know what to look for. Problem is during gaming normally you aren't looking for them so it isn't as noticeable however he's doing a specific type of gaming which would probably easily show oled's benefits
