samsung R60 dvd drive problem

Hi i bought the wife a sammy R60 for her birthday only a month ago and every thing has been great with it .... until now ! last night we tried to open the dvd drive and found that it wasnt responding at all, so i then tried to eject it through the drive properties and still nothing

the thing is practically brand new and the dvd drive seems to have failed already altho its showing up ok in device manager, is there anything i can try to get it working before i RMA it ? i was thinking of a format but tbh i dont think that will help will it ? unless its some kind of software issue stopping the drive from opening ? but i cant see it personally

boot into bios the drive should open using the eject button if operating correctly, if not try inserting a straightened out paper clip in to the emergency eject hole on the face of the drive bezel something maybe lodged in it, failing this its repair route time

thanks man, n00b question but do u boot into a laptop bios the same way as desktop ? pressing F8 or summat ?

usually F2 DEL F10 depends on the model usually gives you a quick message on startup thats very hard to catch, try pressing tab or esc to show the post screen

yeah it was F2, well the drive still didnt work so looks like im gunna have to send it back , big gutted really coz weve had it such a short amount of time
