SAMSUNG S27A950D - Alternatives?

There have been many instances where monitors have been improved with various hardware revisions to correct certain issues. Dell are famous for having several revisions for many of their UltraSharp monitors - and some of these had some major issues in the early days. Because the issues don't affect everyone it isn't something that would warrant a total termination of production or a recall. I certainly think it was a mistake for Samsung to include only DisplayPort on the S27A750D given how temperamental it is but it is a bit of a design limitation specific to that model and not shared by the S27A950D. They weren't specific about the panel issues being addressed but it could hopefully have something to do with uniformity improvements on the SA950 in particular. And I hope something as simple as a firmware fix for existing models does come about for the DisplayPort issues that affect some users.

Thanks again

Thanks PCM2 answered everything really. Looking forward to these revisions. Making 750D only displayport was a bad move. I myself am after the 950 anyways purely due to the design and I wouldn't even mind if it had displayport issues as I'd use the DVI.

Hopefully i haven't wasted my money recently ordering a 750D, displayport NEEDS to be fully working.. otherwise it's useless since 120hz is a selling point of the monitor.

at least i'll be able to get it fixed/replaced, or whatever.. if i run into issues.

It should (if you still have the GPU in your signature or another AMD GPU). I have extensively tested the S27A750D on AMD GPUs and haven't had problems. Tested the 5850, 6950 and 7950 and no DP issues to speak of.

Yeah i still have the 5870, but does it mean i'm stuffed in future if i wanted a Nvidia card?.

I saw you mentioned panel issues for the 950 but not the 750?, or do you mean both?.

I got mine delivered about an hour ago, haven't looked at it yet.. so hopefully it's all ok, i'll report back later how it is.

PCM2, I'm curious as to where you found this information regarding revisions for the S27A950D and the S27A750D.

I was thinking about getting an S27A950D, but if they are really correcting the back light bleeding problem, I think it would be wise to wait.
