I recently bought a couple of 34" 1440p curved VA panels. They're great. But I'm really looking forward to a couple of 40" 2160p OLEDs.

Thankfully screen tech is keeping pace with the deterioration of my eyesight

Nowhere in your article does it say it's cheaper, and based on what I've read, QD-led's cost much more to make than OLED

Confusing because the Philips Momentum 436M6 uses B-LED+QD with MVA which is generally referred to as QD-LED. Wonder if it has the same benefits as the 436M6 in the way bright light is portrayed.

I think we're a long way away for commercialisation of this tech. Benefits of OLED, without the downsides. I've still got a 10 year old Samsung 1080p TV and I want to upgrade, but when display tech is moving this fast, it's hard to find a time to jump in. I want a display that's going to last me 5 years+. OLEDs are fantastic, but their organic nature concerns me for longevity.

TV manufacturers have made a rod for their own backs with terminology and it's mainly Samsung to blame.

When LCD TVs moved from CCFL backlights to LED backlights, they immediately started calling them all "LED TVs" because it sounded more modern and sexy than "LCD TV". This then progressed to "Mini LED" as they got smaller.

Now we're looking at a future where the actual pixels are tiny LEDs and they don't know what to call them.

I been paying 3k or more for most of my TV's for around 18 years and even before that my last 32" widescreen crt was 1.5k

Maybe 2002 toshiba 32" Picture frame widescreen crt TV 1.5k
2006 pioneer 436xde cost me around 3k with spoeakers and stand
2007 pioneer LX508D + speakers cost me around 3.6k
2018 sony 65AF9 was 3.7k
2022/2023 sony 65A95k around 3k

Am not paying 6k to 7k for a TV, it was hard enough when i paid 3.5k twice
