Mine should be here Monday, I can't wait apart from my old crappy CRT died and I wanted a TFT it’s a beast of a monitor. Is there anything I should do to tweak it or w/e when I get it?

Looking like a C or A then.I have not heard of any reported S panels with the id removed from the back and the menu not working just A's and C's.And with no menu tbh none.

Lol what a load of tosh, they have removed the ID from all panels manufactured from now on, so your statement makes no sense :p

How you going to tell if a S panel has its ID removed

You will need to do tweaking even if it is an S panel. Mine is and i came with brightness at 100% out of the box. Contrary to popular beliefs S panels are not perfect.

Yep, you can't tell anymore, so people cant return the monitors due to it being a certain letter.

And what you think is too bright others may not, adjusting brightness isn't exactly tweeking is it :\ takes like 5 seconds to do..

Listen i am going from what i know I never said this is straight from samsung just from what i heard i brought mine less than 2 weeks ago with no id on the back yet i COULD get in the menu.So talking from what I KNOW and have read my comment was the truth.

Also as your so in the know your find if u look there has been no S panels in them for sometime so me saying its a A OR C is the truth.Yes you may well not be able to find out which of the two but the S panels is long gone......................Your telling me its not a good bet that ALL the new panels are not the cheaper made ones or even the the A C panels sent back striped of there id if not they sure took a lose over it no?

info has been removed from the panel my friend had delivered today lol

nothing on the back or in the menu :p

Mine is the same, judging by bleed I think these are the CMO panels.

monitor is getting on my ****, when I first got it I could change brightness etc(I did) now the colour and picture menus are "not available" for changes or what ever so the brightness is on 100% which I can't change and its hurting my eyes. Auto adjustment has "not been available" since I first got it and the response time in the OSD is 5ms and 2ms does not show up anymore?

A lot of options won't be available if your using DVI connection.

Also any preset colour profiles will disable some of the options like Contrast & Brightness.

I just found that if you press the button 1 from the left when you are not in menu you get a list of "profiles" it was set on "dynamic contrast" setting it back on custom seems to have fixed the brightness but it still doesn't seem quite right.

There is on obsure way to tell S from A/C......

1. Connect screen
2. Choose text or internet profile, dont touch anything else
3. Load Battlefield2
4. Load Zatar wetlands map
5. Watch the jets in the sky, A/C panels will have white halos

6. Get annoyed, then read forums which tell you to disable RTA in menus.

7. This is fine, BUT resets after a power cycle.... annoying...

Other games may also show the halo problem (CS2/HL2 dont)

Also, a more expensive way to tell is to use colour calibrator, S panels will be closer to the ideal before any calibration.

Really wish Samsung would stop putting dynamic contrast on their monitors, it's a really unpleasant effect. The only reason it's there is to artificially boost the contrast ratio spec so they can quote dynamic contrast ratio instead of static and make it seem like they've got a magic 3000:1 contrast ratio out of an LCD, which they haven't. They've basically killed the contrast ratio spec and any meaning it had.

The dynamic contrast ratio profile is pretty good for movie viewing. It is annoying going from a dark scene to a light scene because you can see it changing.
