Was having a faff about last night and decided to bench my M.2 drive to see what speeds i was getting I ran it and to my horror was only getting 700 reads so went into the Bios of my MSI X99a and found my PCH source link was set to PCH not auto I corrected that went back into windows and it seemed all sorted getting around about 2000 reads.

This morning I turn the PC on and it cannot find my boot drive, go into the bios don't change anything get out of the bios and boots into windows fine so i try it again from cold boot and get exactly the same result if I switch it back to PCH it boots normally.

My question is this because I mistakenly set it to PCH before installing windows do you think I will have to do a reinstall with it set to auto to sort out the cold boot problem ?.

Have you tried disabling CSM Launch in the BIOS?

If you have the AHCI version this was a fix for not being able to boot from the SM951.

Solved it Fast boot was enabled as soon as I turned that off booted with out any problems

Why does Fast boot stop it from noticing the SSD though, what do you use now as UEFI has different boot modes, like Fast boot, Ultra boot, Ultra Fast boot and some others in it.
