Samsung sneaks out snazzy 3G iPhone rival... the Omnia.

Just called Vodafone again (rang them middle of last week) and they reckon the 22nd now for release - this Friday. It was the 1st September when I called last week ;)

The sales persons said they had no more info, but stressed they were reviewing the cost of the handset - he kept reiterating that... I found that a bit worrying because I suspect they are going to hammer their customers with the high cost of the handset! They have done it in the past.

Re: mobile insurance. A Vody salesperson once told me (unofficially) that my banks mobile insurance (Lloydstsb) and bank phone insurance in general isn't worth a thing. A few weeks later a mate of a mate tried to make a genuine phone claim through Lloyds and it all ended in tears - he had no end of trouble! After that episode he went straight over to his networks insurance.

Re: phone memory. I've seen a few places on the net now doing 8/16gb compatible memory cards and their pricing is pretty tempting :) 24gb on my phone sounds good.

SW.

hey all, good news!

I just been up to orange and got the Omnia, finally!

They had it on 1200 mins / 500 texts (i think might have been 1000 or unlimited - never take notice of texts as i rarly use them!) and unlimited data for £45 / month over 18 months.

With my dell boy attitute i managed to get them down to £41.50 / month and got 1 months free line rental. So over all thats £39/month which is cheaper than my current o2 contract!

I had a play with it and it seemed pretty good. They didnt have the latest firmware on though so dont think it was quite as good as the youtube videos, and also the screen was covered in a plastic protector so couldnt really tell 100%.

I actually had to leave the shop with out taking the phone with me. I have to go back in an hour as they their system was down. Went through credit check, bank details address etc all fine. Last step and ' sorry sir but out systems are down and cant connect the phone to the network, please could you come back in an hour? '

Thats my luck, but it did get a good deal :)

Just rang o2 to get pac code. The lady litterally tried to do everything she could to keep me so funny. (I am pretty sure sexual favours could have been on offer if requested) She went of the phone came back and said " we dont have the omnia (an no date set), but we do have the tocco which is exactly the same" ...

so funny.
