Samsung sp2504c capacity Issue

Hi All,

Iv just purchased Samsung sp2504c and installed windows Xp onto it but since installing it ive noticed that my hard drive size which should be 250gb is only 127gb i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to resolve the issue tried the samsung website but it goes on about creating a deskette (floppy) which iv not had for a few years lol.

The root cause is that you've installed XP using an original pre-SP1 disk which was unable to create partitions greater than 127Gb. You need to have a copy with SP1 or SP2 slipstreamed onto the disk to create a bigger partition at install time.

You've now got a couple of options:

1) Create a second partition in the free space which will appear as a new drive letter in My Computer

2) Use Partition Magic or the command line Diskpart command to extend the existing partition into the free space.

Option 1) carries no risk, option 2) does potentially put the existing data at risk for the duration of the operation.
