First of all happy new year to everyone on the forum
Well a few days ago i ordered one of the samsung spinpoint f3 1tb drives. By misstake i ordered the 5900rpm drive instead of the 7200rpm which i believe is faster.
The reason i got a new drive was because i recently upgraded to a 1075t and the loading times in black ops and other games are not much better than the 7750be it replaced. So i feel as if it must be my prehistoric hard drive thats holding it back
At first i will be using this drive as my boot drive and for games but in the next few months ill hopefully be getting an ssd or pci revodrive as the boot and the samsung will be used for storage only. Also i have no intention of doing any sort of raid config with this drive either.
Heres a few numbers i ran off the passmark tests for my current harddrive
Sequential read - 69.9
Sequential write - 65.8
Random seek + rw - 3.22
So basically do you think its worth sending the drive back for an exchange? Bearing in mind it will be replacing a very old (near 10 years) 160gb 7200 drive. Im not really fussed if it is slower than the 7200 f3 but as long as its an improvement on what i currently have
Cheers Terry
