Hi, I Have a PC hidden away that just runs XBMC and music to my lounge.
Win 7 64

2 HD in it.

1 for the OS (thats fine)

1 a Samsung Spinpoint F4 EcoGreen 2TB Sata-II 32MB (HD204UI)
Purchased from here 9th August 2011

It holds all my films for XBMC
It has become very slow suddenly. Buffering films on XBMC

Took a screen shot from using HD Tune.

Any advice? or is it dying?

Thank you

PS: Column (C7) Interface CRC, is actually highlighted RED. I just had my cursor on it!

really? Yet I have a 74GB Raptor HD as a OS in a machine that is still going strong some 10 years old. (On that very machine as well)

checked all your sata cables are fully seated? and tried it on another sata port?

those drives are very reliable usually

You can't really compare a 'cheap' SATA drive to that of a 10k Raptor, the Raptors are more comparable to SCSI drives in regards to build quality and reliability!

My advice would be extract the DATA ASAP and then do a full format and maybe a DiskFresh to try and breath some new life into it (but obviously then never loading it with DATA that isn't already backed up)

Doing just that as we speak. Extracting all the data off of the HD that I need as most of it is backed up in various other places. Just some films I'd like to save if possible. Which at the moment it is doing. Although. Took quite a few hours here and there to finally show up when I put it in my external HD enclosure.

most odd, been working fine all day. got all of the data off of it.

Ran ChkDsk and it did its thing. But perfect it seems now.

So thrown it in a spare external HD enclosure and keep it in a drawer as a 2nd back up device.
