Samsung Spinpoint - Vibrating Loud

Hi

I just installed my new SATA 400gb Samsung Spinpoint HDD and it has a constant/pulsing vibrating hum. Is this usual and is there anything I can do to make it quieter ?. I've seen something called SMART mentioned but can't find any details on how to enable it.

Smart is always enabled, it gives you info of the drives operations and can often act as a drive fitness service. Is it possible the drive is vibrating within its enclosure/ is not fully screwed in?

Had the same problem in the past, bought a NoVibes3 (elasticated suspension) to hold the hard drive....then it was inaudible!

Its fitted properly and I've added some silicon washers between the case and the screws. It hasn't really made much diiference and its really doing my head in now :mad:

Samsung drives are notorious for vibration, but very quiet once suspended.
