Much <3 Mr Latte. Can you confirm one last point for me please?

On the 360 if you look closely at solid blocks of colour do you see a slight fuzzy haze on them or any form of inteference pattern? I notice these on the NEC and just wondering if the 215 has the same issues.

Thanks mate :)

Edit: The VGA acable for the X360 makes a large difference to sharpness but you lose a bit of colour depth. Well worth the trade off IMO. It's a shame you don't have the VGA cable because I will not know whether this inteference pattern is caused by the cable or not.

Its not NEC "for the win". I think you'll be happy either way but try to see them in action before you buy so you can make a more informed decision.

Well, I spend my life gaming (sad I know). I would definitely say 100++ hours a week (and usually more). I play pretty much everything. My games "du jour" are EQ2, LOMAC, GRAW (Online), PRMM (BF2 Realism mod) and Hitman : Blood Money. I have yet to experience any kind of "ghosting" or "lag" or any manifestation of "non responsive" behaviour.

and i quote again

Nec 20WGX²: Its initial color quality is very good and most importantly it’s the only really fast monitor in 20 inches. No other competitor is able to compete in games

i think you'll find NEC is for the win ;)

but then i would say that owning one :D

seriously though

anybody thats ever owned a CRT can put up with the glare of the NEC. saying its unbareable makes we wonder how these people ever coped before LCD monitors were invented.

I think people should choose the monitor that suits them, researching whats best to THEIR requirements will give THEM the win, to state oh ive got X its great it gets the win is pointless.

Being happy with your purchase is fine but then your requirements mr LOL may differ from others. Id asume the Samsung beats the NEC in colour, i like photography and the added connectivity, contrast with HDCP support, not forgetting portrait and height/tilt adjustment with an additional 1" of screen all bode to achieving an allround product. But at the expense for what, losing a little PC performance in gaming?

Funny how a year ago 16ms was seen as suitable now 8ms on some panels isnt, mmmm anyways i can confirm the product meets a high standard.

Regards X360 and quality, im 85% pleased with it, the VGA may help with a little scaling happening on the console 720p upto 1360x768? and then the monitor scaling from their but the loss of colour from VGA may not be noticed as the colour is excpetional even at 50-60 settings in the menu.

The slight fuzzyness is like a soft focus, and really is more noticable with the text on the blades, during PGR3 gameplay it looked great. Blacklevel and colours may still be better on the 215 than your NEC, honestly i think thats the main benifits youd see with this panel.

Regards the "fuzzyness" and VGA dont expect a great improvement over the NEC, as the scaling is the problem, so will be evident on each screen with same res. I will ask a mate or two to see if any have a VGA cable and update if so.

It's the "twinkling" effect I was referring to with regard to the fuzzyness. It's mostly *** horizontal inteference patterns that are noticeable on blacks especially that bother me.

Really i dont see any major problems and ive tried several games from 360 on it.

Yeah a 23" HDTV will give a better image but then thats limited in resolution for PC usage to 1366x768. If PC usage is a primary function and external video or gaming is secondary then really id go as far as saying the 215 is as good as youll come across, particulary at this price point.

Dont forget almost everyone raved about dells 24" last year and this in my opnion is a MUCH better display in quality terms.

I have only used the NEC, not the 215. I can see the effect at *** start of burnout quite clearly when there is a black screen.

Edit: setting the contrast to 40 completely eliminates the problem and it only ocurs with my X360 so I hope it doesn't put anyone off an aotherwise fantastic monitor.

can anyone take some pics of the 215 displaying a DVD and more importantly for me, displaying something in 480P (or the widescreen equivalent... 520P or something isn't it?) because i would like to know what a Wii is gonna look like upscaled.
