Hi, I am about to pull the trigger on the samsung 40" H6400 from Richersounds £379 .
Now I know the H6400 is well thought of..on here and other places, and after doing a lot of head scratching ( all makes seem to have some kind of faults....... I need a final push to buy the 40" H6400...or is their a better tv at the same price or even pushing the price up a bit?( not too much).
The H6400 has speaker output of 20w ( 2 x 10w?) so i was hoping to get away without adding soundbar .
The tv will be used for watching freeview, and films via Kodi.
any more views on helping me, 40" is my limit
Thanks CJ

I think it's currently the best 40" TV you can get for under £400, I have the 50" version and it's perfect, smart features work well, will you be using the smart features? If so, I'd recommend Ethernet over wifi. :)

Thanks Clov!s, just wanted to check, my names on one in Richersounds, so will call tomorrow.
I will mainly use freeview , plus as i said the amazon fire stick, won't be able to hard wire internet.. so wifi, have watched films via kodi on stick and runs fine (wifi)

Yes HEADRAT, got it today and have it up and running, very nice set, have tweaked a few of the pic settings, maybe do a search for pic settings and see what comes up.
Very decent sound,I think I can get away without adding soundbar etc.
Just using freeview and see no probs.

I have the 55" version and have been nothing but impressed with it considering it's price compared to more expensive sets.

If you find the auto dimming annoying (I did) if you set it up in movie mode it limits the backlight dimming so you don't get the noticeable changes but can still get bright whites and dark blacks.

I've got it in movie mode, though with settings I came across on google search, but I found their brightness setting was too high.

Every set is different so its always best to use settings as a guide then tweak to what looks best for you. I set mine up with a calibrator but was not happy with the picture so did it by eye and ended up with what i think is a great picture with a nice balance.

Thanks Koi for the link
Can you do a search on the remotes "tv guide" screen , to search for instances ... movies, I can do this on my Panasonic tv remote

I use ethernet cable for mine via a TPLink. Is there a way to get it to read the PC over ethernet cable? Everything else works well, Netflix and the programs on the apps, but if I want to browse photos or media from my PC, it insists on a wifi connection which the PC does not have.

You can yeah, if you press the 'Source' button and go right to the end, can you see network share? This will let you browse local content on your PC or NAS if you have network sharing setup, i'll show you a picture. :) I have mine setup to connect to my NAS.

Yes I can see the network share and it automatically detects the PC. But I get the following message when I try to browse:

Request cannot be completed. You will be returned to the main screen.

I have shared folders and made sure everything is open to be viewed and shared on the network settings. I had the same problem on Windows 7, but now I have a fresh install of Windows 8 and still the same thing happens.

If I go to add a new connection, it says it must have a wifi connection and will not let me connect that way either (I don't have a wireless adapter in the PC).

Not too sure what's going on with that, mine has always worked first time, have you got Network discovery ticked?

Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings/ make sure Network discovery option is ticked, try that.

Yes it's ticked and also there is a ticked checkbox to automatically detect settings.

Anyone just using the tv speakers and has any equipment connected via Hdmi, I am getting weird sound through tv speakers when I am using Amazon firestick ,I keep getting a sound , it sound like I am hearing wind blowing,(no other way to describe it).
Also same noise when I connected my Humax freeview box via Hdmi(like the tv guide on Humax)
No problem with sound when just using tv built in freeview via aerial.

Try changing the sound output device in the TV settings, I've got my TiVo, bluray player and nowtv connected via hdmi and have no issues.
