So i have a Samsung Tablet now and i have noticed this app optimization the battery seems fine without it on turned on,Is this just a useless thing to have turned on? Ive been scanning the net seems some people say its good maybe for those buggy apps that runs when it shouldn't be.

I thought it pretty much just kills apps and prevents them from starting unless you have opened them yourself within the past X amount of days?

I am under the impression that this does stop you getting notifications from the apps though.

At least that was my take on it, somebody may be along to correct me shortly :)

I noticed that too. Not sure if its done it recently but I had a lot of Whatsapp messages that I didn't get alerts for as I hadn't used it for a while.

Plenty is right, it's a form of blocking startups. I would highly advise people who do use it to whitelist any type of app that requires screen off (google music, spotify, youtube if red, waze) but generally it's OK for what it does. It got better with later versions thankfully. The first version used to generate more alerts than it prevented, was horrendous for users :(

Ill keep it turned off as i dont see it being any real benefit,Also when it was turned on i would keep getting notifications about the apps that hadn't been used,And i see no way to stop the notifications from popping up.

I use Package Disabler, the pro version for about £1.50. Prevents the Samsung bloatware from running in the background, and can also hide them from the app drawer. Battery lasts about 25% longer. Note 4 and Tab 3 10.1.
