Sandbox Games

I'd like to know your favourite sandbox or open-world games, regardless of genre.
Personally I love them and I wouldn't like to miss any good ones, that's my reason for this thread.
I know there are lots, so please just let me know which one (or ones) you think are the very best. Especially any hidden gems would interest me.

I think that I'm going to try Morrowind again, but this time stick with it (at least until another interesting suggestion comes along.)

It's such a long and detailed game that previously something new alway came along that distracted me from it.

And Minecraft? - I don't think it gets any more sandboxy than that. Thanks for reminding me.

Minecraft is probably the only suggestion that literally has sandboxes as a major gameplay element

Not really sandbox or probably what you're looking for, but Burnout Paradise has a pretty large world and is great fun..
