@Cromulent Ive been playing back on Everquest for a couple of months, if your a paid player they have TLP servers (time locked progression) which are a brilliant way of kinda reliving the original expansions of EQ.
While much of the games mechanics have changed, making some classes and portions of the game kinda easier, overall its pretty close to the original EQ still. I play on Phinigel in an EU guild, got loads of members from other old EU guilds there, infact theres a few EU guilds on Phinigel, currently the servers unlocked to Omens of War, so thats Base EQ, Kunark, Velious, Luclin, Ykesha, Lost Dungeons of Norrath, Planes of Power, Gates of Discord and Omens of War, current level cap is 70, which is actually good as were going to be stuck at that cap for a good 8 months as the next expansions dont include level raises.
Theres a ton of players on these servers at all times of days, theres a few other TLP's, one of them locks at POP and will never go any further (Boring imho) the others operate a vote type system i think, our server Phinigel just has a timed release between expansions, i think its like 12 weeks for an expansion with a level cap and 8 weeks without a level cap etc.
Yeah the graphics are dated nowadays, infact i box a cleric on an i5 laptop's IGPU without any issues, while my PC in sig below barely even uses the GPU lol, but the sense of community on the server is very akin to original old school EQ, raiding is a blast with the guild im in, were at the Epic 2.0 stage so its kinda cool to relive all those epic fights watching people get all those cool weapons etc.
Overall im loving the game again and its giving me the opportunity to play all the old school raids i missed out on, and there is a huge majority of players also waiting on Pantheon
